genres

Research..
For our research we watched the opening to different films. We decided to go with ever thriller or Rom-Com for our genre. We started off watching a range of thrillers and made notes whilst me watched. The first film we watched was The butterfly effect.
The butterfly effect...
In the butterfly effect we noticed at the beginning the outline of the main male actor was blurred at his was on the other side of the window. You could see this figure moving down the corridor slowly, this added tension as you want to know where he is going and who he is, also there is a sound of high pitch noises being played in the background. Then he comes crashing though the door fairly fast and the music has change to drum noises which are low pitched. The actor is franticly running around then office sense and pushing tables in front of the door, he then goes and gets under the desk and starts to write a letter. When he is writing the words “Save Her” it creates an extreme close up on those two words, this makes us think what does he mean by save her and who is she? The title of the film come up after then then it breaks to an establishing shot.
The dark knight...
In the dark knight the first sense is an establishing shot of the city. It then does to a bank. We could hear that there was a noise of helicopters flying over, it then turns into a loud low/medium pitch sound. Then you see a man standing on the corner of the street holding a clown mask you, this makes us wonder why he has that and what he plans to do with it. We never see his face only the back of his head, he then puts the mask on and walks into the bank with others wearing the same masks. There are a lot of gun shots and shouting. There are other clowns all over the city doing things with this same bank job, they all end up killing each other because its part of a plan. One of the sense that is exciting is when the bus comes though the wall and then just drives off like nothings happened. There are a lot of closes ups and mid shots as there are conversations being made. At the end of the sense you just see and hear police turning up to the crime sense. We liked this film because it has a lot of action and we wanted to know what was going to happen next.
Rom-Com
Rom-com are romantic comedies, these mainly have a light hearted feel to them and don’t really have any major bad things happen. They have dilemmas that are soon sorted out. They mainly have only two main characters that end up falling in love or breaking up. They are funny with some sad or serious elements.

target audience

Me and my partner have decided that for our opening the genre would be a Thriller. So there for we thought that the most suitable target audience would be between 15 and 24 year olds. we felt that the types of things that they would want us to include in our opening would be dramatic music, voice overs,  sharp cutting scenes, loud sounds, sharp movements, title of film. casrting listing.
